ST Aviation attended the 55th AFRAA (African Airlines Association) General Assembly, held from November 19-21, 2023, in Entebbe, Uganda. This high-profile annual event brought together more than 500 delegates, including industry leaders, airlines, and aviation stakeholders from across the African continent. Themed “Strides to Transform Aviation for Development,” the assembly focused on key areas such as the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), sustainable aviation initiatives, and intra-Africa tourism growth.
The event highlighted the progress of African airlines post-pandemic, with African carriers projected to serve 85 million passengers in 2023. Discussions also touched on financial recovery, addressing revenue losses due to the pandemic, and the rising fuel prices impacting operational costs. Safety and gender inclusivity were other key topics, with plans to enhance safety standards and foster gender diversity in the aviation workforce.
